What do we do?
We offer skills training and qualifications to all sizes of fishery business involved with caught or farmed fish, shellfish, aquaculture, fish processing, wholesaling, retailing and fish & chips shops.
FITA provides:
- Impartial advice on training-related matters;
- Training materials and resources;
- Training courses and qualifications particularly for catching and processing of any farmed or sea-caught fish or shellfish.
- Specialist technical advice and help, (e.g. hygiene pre-requisites, HACCPs),
- Technical reports,
- Tailored resources,
- Flexibility of time and place and
- Cost effective options.
The Workforce Development Project includes added benefits to encourage training: promoting Lifelong Learning and personal development plans (with vocational career routes) to all employees, work-life balance initiatives, and workplace communications improvements. These are designed to help business to meet targets and improve performance, as well as improving the welfare and ethos of food-sector workers.
